ABOUT MARMLLVOC

General

marmllvoc is a free, console-based vocabulary learning program for unix-like systems. It is written in ANSI C under Linux so it will run on almost any unix-like machine. marmllvoc is distributed under the conditions of the GNU-GENERAL-PUBLIC-LICENSE (GPL).

Will marmllvoc suit you ?

You are not afraid of the console and you are looking for a simple to use program which gives you just enough features to enable effective learning then you are man. marmllvoc does not provide extensive and superfluously feature richness - it was written for simple but yet very effective learning. Bearing in mind: "small is beautiful !"

marmllvoc features

full UTF-8 support (requires a console with UTF-8 support)
effective learning through smart tips
statistics of the last three learning results of each vocabulary file
different learning modes (standard or comfort)
distinguish between upper case and lower case (yes or no)

File format

marmllvoc's input is a vocabulary file with the following structure:
     Language1=Language2
     Vocabulary1_Language1=Vocabulary1_Language2
     Vocabulary2_Language1=Vocabulary2_Language2
     ...
     e.g.:
     Chinese=English
     你好, nǐ hǎo, ni hao = Hello!, Hi!, How are you?
     再见, zài jiàn, zai jian = goodbye, see you later
     ...
where different vocabulary meanings are ',' -- separated.
